Rursumque eum a tentatione prohibet.

2 Aug

Satan addresses God, seeking to justify himself, accusing the elect unjustly, and asking God for permission to tempt and afflict them.  God responds to the devil in four ways: he reproaches him for his sin; he contrast his injustice with the justice of the elect; he permits him to test their virtue. and he prohibits him from tempting them successfully.
